Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is a delightful dish featuring mashed ripe avocados on toasted bread, offering a creamy, flavorful bite with toppings like sea salt and pepper flakes for added flair.

  • 2 slices good bread sub gluten-free if necessary
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise sub plant-based mayonnaise if necessary
  • Maldon sea salt to taste
  • black pepper optional, to taste
  • Aleppo pepper optional, to taste
  • squeeze lemon or lime juice optional, to taste


  • Toast slices of bread to your preferred level of crispiness.
  • While the bread is toasting, cut ripe avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency—some prefer it smooth, while others like it slightly chunky. Add a pinch of sea salt, black pepper and the lemon/lime juice if you'd like to the mashed avocado. Mix well.
  • When the bread is done toasting, spread half the mayonnaise on each slice of bread. Then, evenly spread the mashed avocado onto the toasted bread slices.
  • Get creative with additional toppings such as a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for some heat, or a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.
