Made with simple ingredients like chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil, this classic hummus recipe is a great option for a snack or appetizer. Smooth and velvety, it's perfect for dipping crunchy veggies or spreading on sandwiches. Switch it up by adding in your favorite herbs and seasonings.

  • 1 High Speed Blender We like Vitamix


  • 1 15.5 oz can garbanzo beans
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 6 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup water depending on how thick you want it
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt


  • Drain and rinse the garbanzo beans and place in your blender. Add in the tahini, the lemon juice, water and sea salt and blend on high speed to desired consistency.
  • Put the hummus into a serving bowl and top with some olive oil, some pine nuts and a sprinkle of paprika, if you like. Serve with fresh cut veggies or some pita.


This is a basic hummus recipe but you can add in garlic, fresh herbs (basil, cilantro or parsley) or any seasonings you like to change up the flavor profile.
